Gas Mileage

Ok ive been keeping track of gallons consumed and miles driven and all that stuff. Consistantly, since i've started keeping track, ive been getting around 200 miles to almost an empty tank. Is there something wrong with the car? Does it need to get tuned? the only mods i have are bolt ons which shouldnt really affect gas mileage. My car is a daily driver with majority of driving on the highway. Ive tried fuel system cleaner, no result. WHATS GOIN ON IN MY LS1

What's your actual MPG? A4 or M6? How heavy is your foot?

With my stall and 3.42's I average 15.5 city/24 highway.

I have a 2001 Z28, stock motor (180 thermo with reset fans), Y3000 TC, with 3.73's, and get 240 miles per tank.

I have a similar problem, but worse. On a full tank running all the way down to "E" I NEVER get better than 150 miles, it ussually is between 130 and 145, this means I'm getting 9 or 10mpg!! I have a 98' Z28 M6 with corsa exhaust and cold air induction. Millage has been bad as long as I can remember. Any suggestions/solutions?

Get rid of that 160° thermostat and/or set your fans to come on higher. Contrary to popular belief cooler is not always better. These motors run great at about 175-180° and it will get a lot better fuel mileage.

If I drive until the "Check Gauges" light comes on, I'm at about 230 miles. That's a M6, city driving, 4.11 rear.

Your milage sounds about right ... 200 miles / tank.

unless your milage is all city thats bad gas milage. also something you might try is checking the obvious: tire pressures, air filter, any thing like that. Also recommend replacing the fuel filter. If you have an A4 that might be standard milage especially in the city. If you have a M6 def something wrong unless you are always flooring it. I also get between 240-250 mpg as soon as low fuel comes on. I do about 70% city 30% highway.

On average i get in the mid 200's to a tank, but i'm pretty heavy footed so it always varies. The best ever i got was 340 miles from full to 'check gauges' and that was on a road trip. Heh, if your worried about gas milage, your in the wrong car (well, unless something isn't running right.)

Yep, i am affraid thats just how it goes, iget around 18mpg or so..reguardless of city or hw i cant break 18. Ihave done the b2 chemtool cleaner as was suggested by a fellow member and i did a motor flush, and i did the mystery oil crap and i have done almost everything in a bottle that is supposed to inprove milage. But it all doesnt matter. I have a 98 and i have a smaller tank then you i think its 14.5 but ne way i got 240 miles out of a tank yesterday but that was filled to capacity, and i ran it far below E which isnt good cause of the fuel pump

I've religiously kept track of my gas mileage since the car was new. It's a basically stock M6.

I'd say 50/50 city/highway. I think the lowest I've gotten was 17.9 and the highest 24.9. Overall average, 21.0.

I seem to get right about 300 miles to a tank, and I hardly think I go easy on the car. But I will say I never cruise in a high gear. Lots of off the line stuff, but if I'm cruising down the road at 35mph, I'm in 5th.
