Apparently, guys are getting from 455 to 470 rwhp with that setup and some good heads. Just simply nasty! I wonder how high it will get when a better intake manifold for the LS1 is released?
With 460 rwhp, you'll have a chance to get in to the 10s. Vortech what?

Even with the LS6. I hear cartek is working on a new manifold though.Found the link.

i was looking at that cam and i was thinking... what heads would go good with that cam? TEA has some 5.3 S2 heads that a lot of ppl on ls1tech are talking about that since it's smaller, it's got a bigger compression, thus giving it more power... and also the GTP S2+ 5.7's, which i've seen on some setups and they seem to be doing mighty well. the only problem with the 5.3's are that if you wanna change the cubes with a stroker kit or boring it out, thats not really the right head to do it with, and to just stick with the 5.7... so unless you're getting a stroker, wouldn't it produce more power to have the TEA 5.3L heads and the G5X-2 cam? im looking for the best head/cam combo out there cuz to put it frankly, if i can get more hp out of one setup than out of another, im going to go with the setup that gives me more. only tough thing is that it's kinda hard to figure out which heads go good with different cams to produce the most hp since there are so many cams and heads out there, hehe
hmm... and what about the ls6 heads? i know that the LS6 S2 from MTI flow more than the LS1 S2 heads... ahh, so many options to choose from, lol, hopefully someone else has the answers already for us and i dont have to go lurking around to find them, lol

Supposedly Vararam in Houston has an new intake manifold that Cartek is testing for them. The removal of the ported LS6 manifold and change to the new intake resulted in a car going from 430RWHP to 470RWHP.
and thanks for the link for the heads yo, im looking at that right now
Here's my thinking:
If you want to run the G5X2 cam, you're going to need to consult with its designer: LG motorsports. There are piston to valve clearance issues that can arise with the wrong heads. Additionally, it's LG that has been creating and dynoing the 460 rwhp setups...they may be using their own heads. I know that at least one of these setups is using LG's heads. The cam may be designed to work best with LG's heads. In any event, I would look to have the same shop be responsible for my h/c setup. That way, everything is properly matched and you know it has been proven to work best together. And you can hold that shop responsible if things screw up.

tru, you made a real good point man. i think im going to talk to someone from LGM soon and find out what heads compliment the cam nicely without any P-V issues... ill post back on here and let you know what they said, but most likely, they'll probably say their heads work best with the g5x-2
i saw another post on ls1tech.com about another cam and head setup by JPR that the cam hasn't been released yet but it's showing REAL good numbers... here's the link

If you were in hell, I imagine that there would be a lot of fumes and smoke and steam and sh*t everywhere. The air going in would probably be dirtier than the air coming out the tailpipe. But who knows. I guess you'd have to pray for it to pass. "And it came to pass..."
But I don't believe in hell anyway. Outside of that, you probably don't have a chance..unless you run 6 catalytic converters. ha ha

There are tricks to pass smog, but you'd be hard pressed to get this thing to pass. If you ran 4 or 6 cats (Cobra runs 6) then maybe that would work, provided the cats got hot enough to be operational.
For the average joe though, no way.

I got one thing to say.. its simply not possible on a LT1...
LS1 have wonderfull heads and that is the reason why they are as powerfull as they are... but anyways its seems a bit "easy" to get that HP and I wonder why... If it where that easy wouldn't the corvette have it like that??? or GM would sell that cam already...
Just wondering...

GM sells a showroom stock racing cam for the LSx, 239/251, pretty darn big. I didn't see anyone talking about an LT1 though? 425RW even on a heads/cam car is hardly ever seen on an LT1.
One thing though that I'd grip with, is the "short belt."
