Fuel Management Technology-----??HOMEMADE???

I was thinking the other day about how the new fuel management technologies shut off half the cylinders to make better mpg's. Obviously they can't "shut off" the rotating assembly so they must be shutting off the injectors to these cyclinders. I was just curious if these new engines had the same firing order as our engines. Theoretically, all you would have to do is put a common switch on the correct injectors and flip it off correct?? I know there would be timing issues that would have to change to make the four cylinders run correctly. But hey just thought I would lend my idea into some heads that may know what would happen.

I'm guessing that the firing order is different on these engines that would make it not possible on an ls but hey what do you guys think??????

You already get 26-28mpg from 300 horsepower with a stock 6-speed and 23+ mpg when you mod the motor to 500+ horsepower. What more do you want?

I haven't reasearched the new DOD motors but usually they have a way to realease the compression as well as shutting off the injectors.

I read a little today about displacement on demand and it said that gm does something with the lifters to keep the exhaust valve from opening. to make the cylinder hold compression giving it a springy effect, It seems to me that there would be less resistance on the engine if it just didn't hold compression on those four cylinders just like turning an engine over without the spark plug in it.

Yep. Different lifters. Plan on changing them if you ever do a cam swap. My friend's running into this issue right now with his Hemi Charger.
