Fuel gauge stays on "empty"

Hey everyone. I have a problem with my fuel gauge, it stays on empty! I did some searching before and read that it had to do with the sensor in the fuel tank, and that it would cost about $300 to fix. Has anyone had this problem before?

300 bucks? HOLY HELL...and what the heck is up with that part going out? This seems to be all too common on LS1 cars. Unfreakin' believable that a simple part like that has such issues.

First of all, do you know how many miles your car can go before it needs a fill-up?

I ask this because the faulty gauge won't be an issue if you know this.

Mine started acting weird last March. When I'd fill it up, I'd drive about 175 miles and the needle stayed on F. Then around 215, it would go to half and fall quickly, but I knew how far my car would go, so it wasn't a big deal.

Now, about 6 months later, it's working properly again.

Yeah I've had that problem once. However after I filled up the car again, it corrected itself.
