Angry Why I have a front plate

Well, let me just tell you a little story. I purchased this car on a Saturday...so obviously the insurance company is closed. So I call and leave a message that I bought the car and need my coverage taken off my blazer and put on this, gave the VIN and everything. So we come home and 3 hours later I take my step sister to get ice cream. We drive down the busy road in town and this cop is in the other lane for like 5 miles following me. Then I turn my signal on to turn in the ice cream place and he pulls into my lane (cutting off another car) and turns on his lights. So he pulls in behind me in the ice cream place and asks for license registration, insurance. Well, I hand him my licens and told him I just bought the car. The registration paper in the back window had fallen down. So, to make a long story short he gave me a ticket for no insutance...pissed me off bug time. THe police really have it out for me here. So I dont even want to tempt them with no front license plate...they are hiring volunteer officers though...could be a good way to save myself from the wrath of the fuzz.

Mine came with a plastic holder and looks like it's punch tacked on there or something like that. I would like to take it off, but haven't figured it out. NE idears?

That sucks that you got pulled over already. Is that something you can go to traffic school for? If so take a online traffic school course they cost around $20 and take about 2 hours or you can spend more and spend a whole day at a traffic school.

oops...guess I should have mentioned I got it taken care of...all I had to do was take my insurance card down to the courthouse and they dismissed the violation. Did it first thing Monday...I keep watchin for that jerk cop though. Thinks he's big and bad because he's a K9 unit. ANyway...better watch it, who knows who is on this board HEHEHE! BRING IT ON!

Where I live you don't have to have a front license plate.

So my bracket is still sitting downstairs in the original packaging.

Yo dude, part of the problem is the size of the plate. I shrank the size of my plate, built a custom frame, and attached it to a modified SLP bracket:

Front Plate

This I can live with.

JaysZ thats kind of pointless on your car because you will still get pulled over for those clear corners.

Well the plate is perfectly legal but you need to educate me on the clear corners- if they are illegal in the state of Virginia then that's the first I've heard of it. Please elaborate.

Thumbs down

I've got some bad news for you guys who live here in Cali.

I heard about 2 years ago, that the violation for no front license plate is now a "moving violation" with a minimum $110 fine. You CAN go to traffic school for it. You CAN NOT attend an online traffic school for this violation. I've had several tickets for no front license plate, when they were just fix-it tickets ($10). I recently went to traffic school for a very nasty speeding ticket, and brought up the subject of front license plates. I have know the instructor for over 8 years, and believe me, he knows his ****. He confirmed what i've heard and it is $110.

And by the way, the windshield option, does NOT work in California.

Well for the No Front plate Law in Cali sucks but here is another thing that pisses me off about Cali... I bought my car with Tinted Side Windows, never had any problems untill about February or March when a CHP officer pulled me over for the Tinted Windows but He could not find the tint so he let me go w/ in his words a Warning... Then about 3 weeks ago, I was driving home from a friends house @ 1:30 am, and I was pulled over for doing 80 mph but still no ticket and it was the same damned chp officer that pulled me over for the tinted windows.. This same ******* as I like to call this particular chp officer, was yelling at me because of the tinted windows, and he told me to get rid of them but still I have them since I have not even recieved a fix it ticket... Now what is funny over the next 2 weeks I would be driving down the freeway and get passed by CHP officers allday and never get pulled over.. I guess this one ******* is harassing me, so next time I get pulled over, I am going to ask for his name and badge number, then I will call his Watch Commander and explain to him what is going on with this one *******.... So if in reality if my side windows were a problem I would have gotten pulled over more then 2 x by different cops right ?? And what can they do if they cannot find the Tint Line ?? Nothing in my opinion... I am not going to remove the tint untill I get a fix it ticket.....

I was worried about the tint on my windows because they are darker than leagally allowed in Idaho. Well, (A) I purchased from a dealer in Idaho and they are supposed to make sure everything is legal before they sell it and (B) A very good friend owns a tint shop, he said a little trick alot of officers use is to stick your ID inside and if they can read from the outside it is legal, if not you've got a ticket. Definitely not legal, they better have a freakin spectroemter to measure the light level before they give me a ticket for tinted windows...just want to rant because I know it will happen soon...they wont leave me alone.
