Unhappy Front License Plate

My wonderful state requires front license plates...so the dealer I bought the car from ordered one and this is what I got...not the nice big plastic that surrounds the plate and looks ok. I got a little metal bracket. So I took it to the body shop and my stepdad knows one fo the guys there so he puts it on for me...well the thing didnt even line up with the holes ont he license plate so we had to drill a hole inthe license plate. Then I took it home and got looking and it is crooked!!! GRRR! I hate front license plates. He used self-tapping screws that were pretty big, so there are 4 HUGE holes and I dont want to make it 8 by straightening it out. :-( I'm really upset. Guess I shouldnt worry too much about it, I just want it to look good being the only red SS in town, and one of only 3 SS's...gotta keep the image up for the whole team. There are pics of this awful little contraption at http://photos.yahoo.com/kissme_boo and the plate folder.

I am not sure but I think (in California at least) you can put the front plate in the windshield as long as its not too high off the ground. I don't think this would help you much though because you'd still have those four holes.

I think it looks wierd having the plate hang that low. Why didn't get one of the stock plate holders instead of that one shown in the pictures?

guess I should add the dealership paid for it...so I shouldn't complain much. They also got me an extra set of keys and transmitter for free :-)

i havent put on my front MA plate yet (i'm living out of state for the moment) but i'm very reluctant too

any of you ls1 trans am owners have it on the front? i imagine it was so painful to put it on and mess up the beautiful front end

i havent bother tugging on the front plastic plate thing where the tags will, i presume it just clips in/out and there are screw holes under it for the plate?

i really dont wanna put it on

Thumbs down

Whoa!? Dude, check out the pics of my car.............considering I've got a plate on the front (although I wish I didn't have to?!) I don't think it looks all that bad? You definitely need to go back to the dealer and say "give me the proper bracket, bizatches?!". You have a beautiful SS that looks "half-a$$".............that ain't right.

FIX IT!!!!

I live in California and I don't have a front plate. They cops cannot give me a ticket for not having one, only a warning. I will go as long as I can without putting it on. I've lasted a little more than three weeks, but my bro didn't last much more than an hour in his Cobra.

Illinois requires a front plate too. I think its hideous and dont have one. Never had a problem with that and Ive gotten pulled over so many times . But at least none was for a lack of front plate.

First off, just because it's the law does not mean you have to obey it. Screw the stupid plate law, I've gotten 2 tickets for it, but I don't care, I'm not making my car look ugly, it takes away so much from the looks. Secondly, get rid of that grille and order the SS grille from SLP. It will make the car look that much better.

Its the law around here also to have a front license plate. I got warned by the police that if I didn't I would get a $100 ticket. They told me to atleast put in on my front winshield. So I get pulled over about 6 months later and I was told that I could even do that! The cop said the plate has to be securely mounted to the front of the car. So my quick solution for you, stick the plate on your dash and use some double sided tape and stick it to your windshield Problem solved and you don't have no ugly *** plate on the front of your car.
