Free Mods, Warranty question!
Can anybody tell me if Shortening the EGR pipe , putting on a Descreened/ported MAF end from Whisper Motorsports, and if the the free ram air mod--cutting the bottom of the airbox will void the warranty, and if it does what sections of the warrant?
I dunno. I've got an assload of mods, and showed up last week at the service department sporting drag slicks and track numbers on the windows.
They still fixed the car under warranty(including the pinion seal and fuel pump today), but I also know the service manager and head mechanic

The way I understood it, the mod voids the warranty for that part. If the dealership can "prove" that the mod caused another part to fail, then that item would not be warranteed either.
For example:
You put a "Yes, I am Insane !" Brand 5K stall
on your A4 & the first time out you twist your driveshaft into a pretzel & your rear end decides that life is no longer worth living.
The converter could be shown to have caused the subsequent failures in the driveshaft & rear end - thus, no warranty.
I have had 2 cars now w/ the TPS mod, EGR mod, & the SS has the FRA. I have never heard a peep out of the dealers about it.
I have also not had any internal engine related work done, either.
I do have a stall in the SS , and did have the tranny bolts tightened under warranty to stop a clunk - no mention was made by either lil' ol' me or the dealer about the stall, so I got lucky.
As far as the MAF ends: personally, I would not mod the factory units - swap them w/ aftermarkets if you feel the need, and if worse comes to worse you can put the OEM pieces back on before a dealer trip.
I am lucky in Houston to have had several dealers within a reasonable distance - if there is only one in your area it might be wise to see if you can get to know a service writer or mechanic & get a feel for what they balk at - but, of course, do it on the "sly".
Have Fun !!
