Cool

GMHTP did the mods a while back on a stock 99 A4 T/A and got a few ponies out of them in a dyno, so why not.

www.installuniversity.com has directions how to do them.

hey, if i can do 5 things that each add 1hp or 1# or torque for free or very little $$

and they add up to 5hp...why the flock not?

and some increase the visual effects of the car

I dont think its worth it.. Would rather not hack on my car.. Its fast as it is.. I would rather get more use of all of my power than to add a tiny bit of power and still have no way of getting it to the ground effeciently..

Its a personal preference. A guy I talked to claimed a gain of 1 mph in the 1/4. I've only done the coolant bypass. I just don't care to cut up my air box so I raised it a bit. Don't think it did anything. I'll mess w/the throttle stop when I port the TB and I'm not too sure about porting the stock maf. The best so far IMO is !CAGS. Not free, but resistors are cheap. No power gain either, but it got rid of that annoying skip shift.

I did most of them and I think it made a difference. Most of it really doesn't threaten anything, so why not?

I dont think it's really worth it. None of the free mods can really be felt.

I look at it this way; if I can get a Lid for only 75 Bucks and it adds up to 8 rwhp, then that $75 is well spent. Free mods have little HP gain, if any. Eventhough they're free, it doesnt seem worth it to me.

Of course they won't be felt. Individually they're only 1-2 hp. Add all of them up, you'll get 7hp/tq+. One of the mags tested all of them out on a completely stock car. I think they even left out the bump stop mod. !EGR, TB Bypass, FRA, and maybe another, and they got 7hp/tq. That's a SOTP feel.

Why not do them if they're free? I did the FRA & !EGR to my Z between back to back track runs (the few times it's been on the track) and actually saw a difference of about .06 in ET & about .5 MPH. Not much...but, free...

Also, most of the free mods IMPROVE on the design of the things they modify.Just look at the stock lower airbox and then look at one that's been modded with the !FRA.The lower airbox should have come like that from the factory.Besides,if you don't cut and modify your car presonally, then you're missing out on 1/2 the fun!
