Free Mods

Was wondering what you guys thought about the free mods. I have read up on them and have done the trottle body coolant bypass and opened up the air box and they were very simple and I noticed a differnce.

There is a whole list here if never heard about them:www.installuniversity.com
(click on install documents)

Basically What I am getting at is for those of you who know and have done them, which ones are best, difficultly and should any be avoided

Thanks

Re: Free Mods

de-screening the maf can cause problems with turbulence and inaccurate readings. thats in addition to a measly power gain if/when it works right. id stay away from it

But if you don't have $400.00 bucks and need to pass a visual for an E Test

Re: Free Mods

I didnt notice any difference doing the TB Coolant Bypass... MAYBE it becomes less sluggish after the motor heats up, but you'll be hard pressed to realize any gains.

I did the FRA Mod and I did notice a bit of a difference... my air filter clogged up alot faster!... j/k I noticed the FRA Mod.

I also put a 3" smoothe bellow from home depot and my car seemed slightly more responsive

Re: Free Mods

the donkey dong is the inlet used by the egr system to dump exhaust in your intake. its way too long, and restricts air. it only exists on ls1 intake manifolds though, so dont worry about it.

Re: Free Mods

I descreened my MAF and didnt have any issues with it....did the free ram air mod as well. Also installed the TB coolant bypass kit and deleted the EGR by way of weiand intake manifold and non egr long tube headers. As far as the free mods you really wont notice much of a difference in power. MIGHT gain a few hp through all of them if any at all.

Re: Free Mods

Free Ram Air is great and its easy. I did it on my camaro, I think it only took about 15 minutes, and I just used a knife lol. If you have a dremel tool, it makes things alot easier.
