You will be fine as long as the filter fits the tray

I cut mine out too.

No problems and more direct air flow.

The main thing is not to cut out the lip that the filter sits in. I saw a guy that did that and he was shopping on ebay for a new one. The filter would fall directly through to the radiator...lol

Youll be fine though.

i've heard that if you enter a puddle with this mod you might ruin your engine. is that true ?

Had Mine for 4 years with no Hydrolock and it's driven daily in all weather conditions. Stay out of the 1'+ puddles and you'll be Fine.

Hydrolock isnt a problem with the free airbox mod at all. Your not changing any stock heights. Now some of the air box mods that add scoops at the bottom of the front valence may up the odds if you run through VERY deep water. It shouldnt be a real concern and I wouldnt lose any sleep over it.

Anything that increases air volume in is a good thing. You wont notice anything till your over 60ish mph and 3k rpm. Some say they feel<butt dyno> or hear the intake sucking in air. Personally I think they are hearing impaired, but yes it does add up to a few HP at higher speeds

That's not as bad as what I did a couple years ago...sawing w/ a knife and punched through on accident and pierced the A/C cooler or whatever it's called. I could hear a hiss and I was pissed! I bought a new lower piece for the airbox so they couldn't tell I had messed with it and took it in to have it fixed under warranty!
