Fra

You guys who have FRA, how often are you cleaning your air filters? I'm thinking I'll do it anyways and if dirt builds up too much and too often ill replace the cut parts from GM. Are you guys happy with it? Were there noticable differences after performing it?

If you're talking about the mod where you cut the plastic above the radiator (and condenser), do it. My air filter hasn't been changed since I did it and I have a WS-6. I did notice a difference too. Definitely worth it.

I clean my AF every couple months just for GP's. With a K&N, why not? The FRA mod is a definate power-adder.

After I did the FRA, the filter definitely gets dirtier faster but IMO, it's worth it. Well, I couldn't exactly feel a difference but I'm guessing it probably did help a little, I just can't feel it...I couldn't feel a difference on my '96 after I did Hooker LTs and I gained 4 mph at the track, just to give you an idea of what I can/can't feel

Ya you cut the bottom of the air box assembly and a hole in the air baffle...

No, those things behind the lid before are air silencers. FRA includes cutting a flap/air baffle beneath the airbox assembly and in front of the radiator. Look at the pics in the sites I posted.

Ya... but are you referring to the baffles/silencers behind the lid or are you reffering the pieces below the filter, which includes part of the air box assembly, and further down there's another baffle that you cut a hole in for FRA. Maybe I'm just confused.

Installing a lid doesn't require FRA. FRA is further work, involving cutting into items beneath the air filter.

The FRA mod is a 'must do'...
Your filter will dirty quicker, the rear half anyway. When the rear half is dirty, rotate the filter so the clean part is in the rear. Your filters will last twice as long.
