I completed my first mod last night. It was an slp lid with a K&N and I also did the free ram-air mod. I also cleaned off all the crap hiding under the old lid.
The car Runs ALOT better and it feels alot stronger, BUT..... It idles realy low now and it has already stalled 3 times. (at lights)


Any Ideas???

Oh P.S. the air hose is to short to reach the lid. I am getting that fixed today could that be the reason? And should i just extend the hose or by a separate filter for the hose???

 

How much did you remove doing the free ram air?

 

I have a camaro mag that showed what to remove. I removed the cross and excess plastic. So now there is no plastic under the K&N.

 

I would think the K&N needs the cross piece to not bow.

Check your MAF and IAT connections for the stall.

 

Give your car a couple days to relearn its curve.

 

Yeah I don't think the person who owned it before me even cleaned under the hood. My car hasn't been able to breath in a while.

 

also remember that if your car is getting TOO much air, it will die.

 

Are you getting an SES light? I have done this same mod and have not had any problems at all. But I did leave the cross piece under the filter in. Did you plug in the MAF and IAT sensors? If they are plugged in, try reseting the computer.
Here is how:
1. Turn key to the "on" position but don't start car
2. Pull the PCM BAT and PCM IGN fuses in engine compartment
3. Wait approximately 5 minutes
4. Turn ignition off
5. Replace fuses
6. Start the car and then make sure the light has gone off

You don't need the cross piece under the filter...I removed it on my car and the 4 others that I've done that mod on...they're fine. When I dod the FRA mod, I actually do it a little different so it creates a bit of a vaccum going into the lid.

 

My car did the same thing when I did that mod. Your suppose to make sure the battery is unplugged before you do that and then I just let my car run for about 15 minutes took it for a test drive and now everything seems fine....

 

I FOUND THE PROBLEM! The Egr was cut too short so it was creating a vacume leak. I was going to replace it(at @ nice $85) but I read you can take out the whole egr system and the A.I.R. system without hurting the car. + I'll loose 15lbs.

 

If you removed ALL of the plastic, that's probably the problem. Way too much air without a proper tune WILL **** the car off Put the "excess plastic" back on and try it again. I bet it works fine

 

It'll throw SES codes, but you can get those turned off.
