Re: first mods

first mod should be lid. lots of lids out there, all perform about the same. get one for your budget and that you like.

after that, you could get a catback, stay away from flowmaster. lots out there, see one you like the sound of and like the price of. ls1sounds.com

also get a better stall. that will help in those 1/4 times alot.

headers next. lots of them out there. alot of people like pacesetters. slp will cause clearance issues.

some people like to get different gears. this will require a tune and can hurt gas mileage. this will be more pricy than just the price of the gears.

that should get you started.

Re: first mods

all good suggestions

if you want to do a stall, make sure to do some research, different size stalls are better for different size cams. it will depend on how big of a cam you plan to throw in.

but basically for mods...easier air in, easier exhaust out is the first step.

go through and read the first 15 pages of this forum...most questions on the major "first mods" has been asked several times.

would help to know what kind of budget you're looking at for the bolt ons.

Re: first mods

Def LCA's.. Big traction upgrade. great starter SUSP Mod.

Try some free mods if you haven't done so... all together are worth about 15hp. I've got a writeup in the LS* Specs stickey...

Magnaflow Catback is a great bargain, great tone at a good price...

YEah, SLP LT's can casue some clearance problems. If you plan on lowering the car DON'T get them. I catch, but not on everything, like people say... only a BIG problem when lowered.... THere's things you have to watch for. Steep driveways... I have to enter and exit my enterance to my APPT complex at a steep angle.

Re: first mods

If you have the 2.73 gears, the 3.73's will get you more than a set of headers would as far as performance is concerned. But, like posted above gears will hurt the mileage slightly. They would probably end up costing the same (including installation) as a descent set of LT's & ORY.

This is nearly the exact route I followed. I would not disagree with a thing said here. I have had many positive comments about the Hooker aero chamber muffler I have and I was told my Jethot headers were easy to install with good fitment. Drag radials certainly help even on the street but mine are to the point of being dangerous if it rains to hard. I only mount them to race now. I do have a standing deal at the local Discount Tire were I get about a 15.00 dollar break on their regular price to mount and balance.
