Question Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP users inside...

Hey guys,

I'm looking to replace the stock F1's on my car with the Firehawks. I'm looking for any info you can give me. Good, bad, or otherwise. Do they have a rim protector bead? And is it me or do they look narrower than other tires in the same size (275/40R17)?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,
-Dave

I had some SZ50's on the last car I had and they performed excellent. Handling improved and wet traction. They do have a rim protector. I am going to buy a set of SZ50's when my GSC's wear out.

They're an EXCELLENT street tire. You really can't lose with them. They do look thinner than most other tires though.

Thanks for the info, guys! Given the fact that they look a little narrower than other 275's, has anyone run the SZ50 EP's in a 285/40r17 on all four corners?

Hey there,

I went with the 275's and didn't look back I put 'em on my car about a year ago. They're awesome!

Great tire no complaints at all. Anyone need a set of 16" GSAs with 7K on them ????

Best handling wet weather tire I ever had. Dry weather handling is not spectacular but decent. Terrible to dangerous in snow. I have a spare set of rims that will get real snow tires next fall.

Went from BFG KDs to SZ50 EPs because of the wet traction. The BFGs were downright dangerous at 4/32 in the rain. The SZ50's are do well in the rain. The ride is much harsher yet the tires feel mushy compared to the KD's when pushed to extremes. They are a pretty good tire for the price. Next time around I might go with KDWs instead.

My buddy has them on his 'Hawk. They're all around great tires, but traction suffers. Although I might only think that because I'm used to Nitto DR's

Not trying to be a smarta$$ but KD does stand for "Killer Dry".
You would probably be much happier with the KDW's if you do much wet weather driving.
As for the topic; I had a set of SZ-50's on the 97 and was really happy with them. I would buy another set in a heartbeat if we weren't a BF Goodrich dealer.
