Finally did the TB coolant bypass

It took a little longer than I thought it would. The passenger side hose came off easily. However, the driver side hose had to be cut off b/c it was stuck. Had to make a quick trip to AZ for some new hose. I even had to cut the other side of the hose that connects to the coolant intake tube. I guess it got pretty hot over the yrs. Anyone else have this problem?

While we're on topic, what is the significance of this mod?

supposedly its to keep the throttle body cooler. with out the hot coolant flowing through the tb the air in the tb doesnt get as hot. im sure its only a few degrees, but every little bit counts.

After I finished this mod, I wondered why not just replace the whole hose?

This mod significantly reduced the temp of the TB. After driving 20 mi. it was just warm to the touch. Before the mod, it would burn my finger. I do feel better throttle response.

I finally did it too, just yesterday. i used a vacum line adapter 5/16 to 1/4 do you think it is safe? it is plastic but the guy at advanced said its ok because so is the resovor that has the coolant in it. so i figured he might be right. when i was putting the hose on the 1/4 side i didnt wet the adapter and tried to twist it on and the plastic peice twisted alittle but it isnt leaking or anything. its not like it will melt right? just wanted to know if it should be fine. thanks.

I bought the kit from BMR. It has an aluminum connector.

The guy at Advanced was wrong as usual. The TB coolant mod has nothing to do with the resevior. This is the hot coolant from the heads to the radiator. Go to a hardware store and pay the buck or so for a brass hase barb adapter.
