Smile Few modification questions?

I'm proud to say I just purchased an 02 SS and am excited to go pick it up this Saturday. Second, I've spent countless hours the last few days on this site doing extensive research and this board is an amazing tool!
I still do have some questions and would appeciate any info. Through all my research I've decided that a LID is an excellent must do mod and that the SSRA is another very worthwile mod. I was surprised to see that many said to keep the stock filter though and wanted to ask again if this was the general concensus? Also when I read a lot about the SSRA and other RAM air mod's, many spoke of sealing the air box. I was wondering if anyone could be anymore specific on where your sealing at and/or how that's best accomplished. I'm honestly not the most mechanically inclined! Also I saw the info on the Qwik Stick shifter piece and was thinking it might be worth paying that vice $160 plus for a complete setup. I've honestly never driven any LS1 yet, but it seems to be the consensus that an aftermarket shifter of some sort is recommended. Any feedback is certainly appreciated, thanks in advance!!

Re: Few modification questions?

the 6speed shifter that comes in the z28s and some SS cars is crap. there was a factory option to get a hurst shifter which is a decent piece. but the stick is still CRAP. it has a rubber bushing in it that makes it very sloppy.

if you have the hurst upgrade from the factory just invest in a short stick. i happen to have one for sale, or just invest in a well respected "lou's short stick" i have a link in the signature below.

SSRA and Lid is a must do i think, not sure how the sealing thing works with the SS hood. but for my car the SSRA came with a piece of weather stripping that sealed off the front of the air box. you'll see what i mean when you get the car.

as for the stock filter...that's arguable. i can't see how a free-er flowing filter can rob hp. but i like it cause i can just clean it once a year and be done with it.

The sealing fo the SS is the same as any other LS1 f-body.

And I just throw my paper filter away every now and then to put a brand spanking new one in. 6 of one, half a dozen of another.
