Why not contact Futral for their cylinder head recommendation? Personally I would recommend for a quality budget head PRC or Livernois, and AFR or TrickFlow for a high dollar aftermarket piece.

OLD 69: 4.10 gears are near perfect for most mild 6 speed combinations, even stock. Remember the 6 speed has a .5:1 overdrive. The only problem with the 4.10s is they are prone to breaking. Ideally for a cam the size of the F14 you would want a 12 bolt or 9" with a 4.30 or even a 4.56 gear if you've got the chassis to go with it.
When you say there prone to breaking I assume you mean the rear end breaking not the Gear's itself?? Im a Newbie to the LS1 scene.Just trying to learn more about these 98-02's.One thing that concerns me is that the low end torque or power that some guy's complain about. Then again that wouldn't bother me to much because I like the power range from 2500 to 6500 Rpm's.The LT1 probably has more power off idle stock to stock.I could be wrong once again??

Compare a 7.625" 10 bolt 4.10 gear set to a 3.42 or 3.23 and you'll understand. The pinion is TINY. Add a manual trans with some power and some sticky tires to the equation and you get a problem. Automatics are more forgiving because they don't shock the rear and most go with a 3.73 ratio.

LT1 low end torque is no better than the LS1 low end torque. The LS1 has a deceptive powerband. And since were talking about performance cars, NOBODY should be concerned with the amount of torque available just off idle - save that for the diesel truck crowd.

I think your meaning blasting out of 1st Gear at the Dragstrip or even on the street.I never did much of that.In the car that had over 400 RWHP I kind of roll out of first Gear with the 4.11's and then hit the throttle on the roll. Are you saying this kind of driving on the street will shock the rear end with the M6 on the street.I understand if your talking about the Drags??

I do most of my racing on the streets. (as dangerous as it is) But mostly on highway with a 30-40 mph roll. So i dont think that will be to detrimental on the rear end as if I were to dump the clutch at 5000 rpm. I actually blew up my rear end on my 97 camaro that had 4.10 gears in it. I only had it about 2 months when it blew up. 3.73 lasted a hell of a lot longer with less problems. When I upgrade to a 12 bolt I might get the 4.10 gears though.

Well if you ever do Drag Race it 1 time it wouldn't make sense to swap the 3.73's Gear's for the 4.11's.If and when I buy an LS1 with the M^ I would probably have to decide myself between the 3.73's and 4.11's.I didn't know that the stock motor with 4.11's would be detrimental to the rear end.The way I drive I would just hit the throttle off idle in 1st Gear.I don't think the rear would give in that case but who knows.

The F14 is quite big for a street cammed car.Wouls a 4.10 Gear be a perfect Gear for that Cam or would even more Gear be needed??? Supposing the car had a M6 Trans.

a 4.10 would absolutely be good for that cam on an M6. Its power probably kicks in at the 3K+ RPM range. I have the F13, which is slightly smaller than the F13, and on my stock 3.42 its a bit doggy until it hits about 3k RPM.

I don't mind losing a little bottom end power as long as the F14 Cam works good with the 4.10's and still gets good gas mileage. On my older car's I alway's went bigger on the Cam and had idling issue's but with the LS1 Camaro I think I should still get good gas mileage.
