Exhaust smells kind of sweet and tips are black around edges......HELP

So I pulled into the garage tonight and I noticed my exhaust smelled slightly sweet. The tips are super black on the inside and just around the outside edges and it wipes off with my finger. What is going on here? Car has 27000 miles

well any exhaust components are going to turn black on the insides fairly quickly... even in a properly tuned car.

are you blowing black smoke at all? ever? if your not sure have someone drive behind you and watch while you go thru the gears, steady driving, from a stop, wide open throttle runs... etc... if no VISABLE black smoke is coming out... then i don't think your tips being black on the inside is any issue.

sweet smelling exhaust is usually indicitive of burning coolant, typically from a blown headgasket is all of my experiance (and others) in that case you wanna look for any kind of WHITE smoke... or steamy... but some people have mistaken it for a lightish "grey" smoke as well. check your coolant level... and keep checking it... watch the engine rev and look/listen for oddities.

are you experiancing any noticable loss of power? and i mean noticable, not "it might be in my head, no one else who would notice, has noticed"
?
