Question exhaust...SLP or BORLA

Here's the question... right now I have cat back BORLA on my 99 Camaro SS, but 2 weeks ago I got rear ended and it got all bent up and the whole system has to be replaced. Now I'm thinking about going to the SLP loudmouth exhaust with the quad outlet and rear fascia. I've always hear that the SLP sounds good, and I know that the borla sounds pretty good, but it's a little mellow for my taste, but at the same time I looked at summitracing.com and it said that the borla comes with different sound plates, and I didn't know that. What do you guys (or girls) think. Any personal experience?

Lightbulb I have Borla, and have heard the loudmouth.

Borla is on my SS - I put the smallest plate in to make it quiet.

Friend of mine's wife had an ' 00 WS.6 - she had the loudmouth installed.

It lives up to it's name !

Too noisy for my tastes, though.

I'm lost when you say SLP quad outlets and rear fascia - the dual dual does not require a different rear cover, and the center mount does use the new fascia - and looks pretty wicked to boot !

Nice thing about the Borla is that if you get a new one you'll get all the plates & can adjust the sound more to your liking.

The others= what you get is what you get.

My .02.

man i dont like the looks of the slp rear facia and quads at all, but if you got the centermount that would be totally different and awesome. i love my borla and i run it wide open, but i have an electric cutout so if i want quiet i just flip the switch.

I have a LoudMouth and I think it sounds great, gives that perfect muscle car sound. I'm definitely happy with my decision, but I have heard people complain about them when going with LT headers and no cats.

I've heard a lot of nice things about Borla as well and you do have first hand experience with them, but me personally I could not justify paying an extra $400 for a cat-back.

I went with MAC headers to a custom 3" straight piping to a SLP Loudmouth dual tip exhaust. If you are looking for a really loud exhaust, this is the exhaust to get. It looks nice and it doesnt cost that much. The best investment I put on my SS.
I bought mines from Thunder Racing

I just installed the SLP Loudmouth on Monday. I was a little reluctant to get it because I had seen others post that it's too loud. But then I got it as a gift so I had no choice! I got the dual-slash tips instead of the dual-dual.

Installation was easy. Hardest part was removing the stock exhaust. It would have been much easier with a sawzall or cutting torch. I just used a hacksaw.

I'm not convinced I'll stick with the SLP slash-tips. To be honest I liked the stock tips a little better. The SLP ones look a little cheap IMO.

But I love the sound. Bluntdogg was right - it gives a really good muscle car sound. It is loud, but mostly only during acceleration. My biggest concern was how loud it would be at cruising speed and whether it would get annoying after a few minutes. But it does quiet down pretty well in the upper gears.

The stock system wasn't bad, but it wasn't loud or mean enough to put those Honda Civic coffee-can mufflers in their place. This one definately does!

I like the sound, Iam running SLP dual/dual loudmouth with FLP longtubes with the cats. Very aggressive sound that gets everybodys attention. It does sound like crap without the cats in place....raspy above 3000rpm. Iam getting my cam in next month and will probley add a borla/magnaflo round muffler in place of the resonator to deepin the tone after the cam...M6 so I got the 112lsa for the nasty lope at idle

I would also go with the Loudmouth just for the fact that its $400 cheaper and those with the Borla run in with no plate so essentially its doing the same thing the Loudmouth is doing.

Loudmouth all the way, when I first got it I thought it was loud but after driving it around for a few months it still wasnt loud enough for me.

So a few weeks ago I stepped up to some LT headers, FLP to be exact, and let me tell you this is exactly what Im looking for. With the cats in place it has a nice deep sound at idle and rips all sorts of **** up at WOT. I wouldnt go with anything else.

BTW whoever says the LM+LT sounds like crap rasp drone blah blah all need to take thier panties out of a bundle, this setup is magnificent.

I like my borla(no plate btw) pretty mellow for what it is and im sure the loudmouth would be just as loud with stock cats and ypipe. Thankfully my borla came with the car so i didnt have to shell out the 700 bucks for one id say get the loudmouth if your insurance is givin yah the 700 for the exhaust and put the other 300 towards some other mods
