Exhaust Opinions

Guys i could really use some help on this one, i am torn between different exhaust systems. I just got a 2000 Camaro SS 6 spd with 37k miles. I love it but its a little bit to quiet for me. I am going for an exhaust system that will 1) let peeps know im coming 2) sounds mean and aggresive. Friend of mine suggested SLP loudmouth with no cats, but it seemed a little raspy and just annoying. Another buddy of mine said either HOOKER exhaust system, or a Borla system. I REALLY wanna order this stuff soon so any advice or opinions or experiences with exhaust would be great.

Re: Exhaust Opinions

First thing you should do is cut the muffler off and weld a straight pipe back to the bumper. This setup is quite loud, but unless you really have your foot in it, it is no louder than a semi truck. The cops have left me alone, but then I've never opened it up in front of them either.

This setup does drone on the interstate, but it is bearable, just turn up the radio. As far as sound goes, it sounds great, like a V8 should sound.

BTW I have the stock manifolds and cats on my car.

Re: Exhaust Opinions

i say magnaflow

aluminized pipes, stainless polished muffler, EXTREMELY good flow, and i think you can get them for under $400 on ebay still.

with no cats they get a bit raspy on top end...but with cats it's NICE.

Re: Exhaust Opinions

If you're going cat-less, I'd suggest the Borla. That was my setup on my '99 SS and I loved it. Not too noisy when you close the system up so it all flows through the muffler. But when you open it up, it will definately let people know you're coming.

Re: Exhaust Opinions

I voted other and I advise you to go with the GMMG catback. I was in the same situation as you. I heard most of them in person and the GMMG sounded the best in my opinion. It just sounds really muscular but it is not bad at all on the highway for long trips. It is expensive though.

Go with the GMMG. I have it on a 2000 SS 6 speed. Sounds perfect when you get on it but not too loud cruising on trips.

I'd have to agree. GMMG is a great sounding catback. Great quality too.

Re: Exhaust Opinions

I'd go with borla or corsa, if you're looking at getting a cheaper exhaust the hooker cat back is really good for the price.

Borla blows GMMG away, in my opinion.

TSP Rumbler. It also outflows every system but the LoudMouth.

Re: Exhaust Opinions

borla.. .the $600 cutout..

if you want high dollar, corsa or B&B triflo.. if you want cheap get dynomouth.. if you want the best, get true duals.. Lanes has not gotten one ill review yet that I have seen.. And If I werent keeping my car stock, I would get an exhaust by Lanes..

I had a magnaflow. Way too quiet for my tastes(didn't hear it on the interstate though). Nice sound, but way too quiet. I think it was as quiet at idle as the stock exhaust.
