Post Exhaust idea.

What if i just have the factory muffler removed, then have a louder muffler replace the factory one? Would this work? If not what is something similar? Keep in mind i hate any kind of rasp sound. I want my car to sound good, not like someone happens to be strangling a cat when i goose it.

You could take out your muffler and replace it with a Magnaflow or Dynomax. Both muffler have packing material in them vs. chambers

Does anyone have a soundclip of this, and a price maybe?

Eh, just get an exhaust cutout. That's what I did, and it's cheaper that a muffler. Best thing is, you can make your car loud or quiet whenever you want.

it would help a little bit i suppose, i guess it all depends on what you're looking for. but those stock pipes are still going to restrict exhaust flow. getting a new exhaust package (like say borla or slp, etc.) will provide bigger pipes, a better flowing muffler, and an easier exit so you can get the exhaust out faster.... which will provide bigger gains.

HP gains arent really a concern to me. I just want better sound. My car has *****, i just want it to sound that way with no rasp.

Just get an aftermarket muffler. I think the Hooker is a very docile muffler. Don't worry about a whole system. I have just a muffler on mine (Dynomouth mod) and I pull the same or more on the dyno as guys with any of the other systems (assuming same yr and mods). The power loss behind the cats is all in the stock muffler, not the .25" smaller pipe. The stock stuff is mandrel bent stainless, so unless you are going with heads and cam, 3" pipes are a waste, and if you do go heads and cam, you'll want bigger than 3" anyway. So anyway you look at it, 300-1000 bux for a .25" larger pipe is a joke.
For sound clips, go to this site and look for exhaust sights and sounds. They have several clips.

Good luck

I'd agree on the power side of it; the vast majority of the power increase comes from a higher flowing muffler. Sound as well As far as the "stainless steel" exhaust from the factory; that's a joke. I've seen enough "stainless" factory exhausts rust away pretty quickly up here in MI with all the salt on the roads to come to the conclusion that if I'm investing the time and money, I don't want it rusting away in a few years. Still, I wouldn't spend the insane prices Corsa and Borla want for their stainless stuff. At $600-$800 bucks, you could replace a whole lot of mufflers.
