Everyone who thinks cutouts sound bad (movie clip)

ftp://car:vid@24.175.106.188:6100/cutout.zip

If you can listen to that and tell me it still sounds bad, then ok

I was bored as hell earlier, and since I can't drive my car right now I had to at least start it up to let it know I still love it!

(I'm hosting it off my cable so you'll prolly get about 20k/sec, it's a 7MB file)

Sounds great. I just don't like that rattle sound you sometimes get with the cutout at wot. I didn't hear it on yours though so very nice

Just because you have a cutout doesn't mean air doesn't still flow out the muffler as well. That pipe doesn't just get closed off when you uncap the cutout.

What peeves me is a lot of people tend to say cut-outs sound like crap, and I've heard numerous of them (in real life that is, dunno about here on the board) tell me that some people I know's Borla sounds badass. Well, I hate to break it to them but my friend's Borlas all have open plates, so they're esentially just a very expensive cutout. I think many people are just afraid to admit they're nice cause they need to justify the $600+ cat-backs they bought to themselves

Oh well, to each his own.

Seen the electric cut outs? I am just afraid they may not seal right after a year or two. I also saw a install that was right after the header and pointed at the ground. It didn't sound to shabby on the clip. Would be nice to be loud when you needed it and be able to go back to stock when you don't a the push of a switch. Anyone tried them for a length of time?

It's not a hassle when you drive w/ it opened 24/7

I wouldn't put a cutout after the header anyways, that's just TOO loud.

I agree for everyday driving it would suck. But I wouldn't mind the noise if I just opened it to race. For those 13 seconds the radio would be really loud anway Besides, they are adjustable by the switch as to how open they are so you could just stop when it bothered you.

I don't see the appeal.
They are raspy and unrefined loud.
I deleted my muffler and put a DynoMax bullet in the I-pipe.
The sound is awesome deep with no rasp. The bullet is straight through 3" so flow is not compromised like other mufflers. It flows the same as 3" pipe.
I have more info and several sound clips on page 2 of my site in sig.

Love the sound, but don't like the feeling of the interior rattling.

GrdLockV6...I'm sure you like them but like I've stated before, they sound like total A$$ to me. Same thing with the LM. I just hate the sound of an unmuffled V8(especially an LS1). Nothing will change my opinion of this.

And to me, even a wide-open Borla sounds better than any cutout. About 25% or so of the exhaust still goes through the muffler while those intercooled tips also help alter the tone a little. Again, I've heard both, and they do sound different enough to the point where I can easily hear the difference. Besides, if I spent $600 on a Borla, I'd mainly buy it because I love the looks(while the sound/adjustability would be second).
