Engine Swap...

For a backyard Mechanic, like myself - Is it really as hard as some people make it out to be?

I'm talking about EFI's like the LS-series...If I wanted to, I'm pretty confident I could build me an engine in about a week, but all the wireing, and computerized stuff. Does that take in depth knowlege, or can I purchase some sort of a guide somewhere, that shows me where to plug everything in?

Oh, I was thinking about putting an LS2 /6 (haven't decided) into a '79 Camaro

I realize its a bit of a stupid question, but you folks seem to know best.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

a standalone wiring harness would help you out a lot.

and yes you can do it........... if you put your back into it.

The swap you want to do is straight forward and a PITA at the same time. Most of it is basic but there are many smaller things you will have to overcome. There are several companies making/modifying basic 4 wire harnesses for your poursose.

I recomend checking out the Conversions and Hybrids forum at LS1TECH.COM. They were an invaluable source of information when I did my LS1 swap this summer.
