Engine Seems Loose in Bay

Hey guys,

In my '02 Z28 M6 i've noticed it has lost some power, from what I think it is due to a worn down clutch...42,000 miles on it with the occassional burn out and donut. It's primarily my dad's car and he's been on vacation for the past week so I took it out because he was saying he was hearing some weird noises coming from it. My first thought was piston slap but the tapping goes away after warm-up.

So I was looking under the hood as it was warming up and I noticed it had a rough idle(which it partially my fault) but the engine seemed to be moving, or shaking a little too much than I would expect. It seemed like an engine mount had been cracked or something or maybe something happened with the k-member. I dunno.

Also the "change oil" light comes on at start-up and stays on a couple of minutes even after warm-up when driving. Could this be caused by piston slap?

Sorry about the somewhat long post but basically what I am asking here is this:
What could be going on with the engine that it is vibrating that much in the engine bay and could my piston slap being escalating into a worse condition?

Thanks,

~Kevin

Could be the engine mounts. My first car had them broken. The auto guy floored it and the whole engine jumped up a few inches.

yea, it could be the motor mounts. but my 96 ta would shake but it just had a rough idle. the change oil light only comes on for a lil bit, then goes off. so thats normal.

Thanks guys for the advice...I think when this hurricane is gone(i'm in FL) i'll take her to the dealership and see if it's under warranty or how much it would be for them to fix.

Actually you probably are hearing piston slap. It normally goes away after warmup.

when you start the car, hold the odometer button iin untill the "change oil" light flashes...then let go.

it resets and you don't have to worry about it. mostly a dumby light
