Where is a good place to buy an LS1 longblock engine for 1999 Z28 for a decent price?

I don't have a core to trade in.

I saw a couple posts about guys getting crate engines from their GM deal (LS1s & LS6s for around $5500.

 

I don't know how it is in Fla, but the dealer I work at and most of our competetion sells crate motors at about $100 over dealer cost. You'll have to eat the core charge, though.

What happened to your old engine?

A4, 3.23 gears, Black, ZR-1 chrome wheels, Zaino'd, tinted windows, stock for now

 

I went through a lot of water last friday and water got in the engine and threw a rod and cracked the block, and the oil leaked out. Dealership(which I used to work at and I know them) said the engine is ruined.
And conveniently my warranty is out.
