engine power washing
I've heard that you really shouldn't powerwash the engine. The way I've been told to do it is to spray the degreaser or whatever you use on what you want to clean and for some places to just use a small brush or rag to wipe it off. Once that is done, just use a very small amount of water to rinse it off, as little as possible.
Stay away from the PCM with water and anything. Just be careful on the MAF and other sensors so that you don't mess them up too.
Hopefully some others will chime in and add, cause I would like to know too.

It's safe to use the shower setting with your garden hose, use mild degreaser scrub what you can and rinse it off so you're really not putting any pressure on anything, ofcourse use common sense and don't direclty spray the electroincs or put cleaner on them.
When I took delivery of my car, the damn dealership had put some kind of crap that made the engine shiny. Problem was it caught dirt like fly-paper. Within 200 miles it was disgusting. I used the spot-free setting on a power washer and it pretty much took care of it without hurting the car.
