Re: Electric water pump worth the $$$

Thanks, I had the SSF 3500 sitting here for 6 months and finally got off my *** to put it in.

The car feel stronger, I'm going to take it to the track this weekend, I might try taking off the front sway bar off too.

Re: Electric water pump worth the $$$

On my LT1 I did the water pump.. Wasnt happy. Was plagued with cooling issues afterwards. I think since mine was a daily driver and I regularly cruised at 80-95mph with 3.73's on an A4 and my RPMS were holding at about 3K it was not flowing enough coolant to do the job where a mechanical waterpump would go with the engine rpms..

hey psychocabbage, what was your pump rated at?
i think earlier in the thread it was mentioned that the stock pump flowed 25 at 6000rpms or something whereas the one he bought was like 35 all the time (all rpms)
i wouldn't think you'd have a problem since it flows more all the time
just trying to get info on this but i would probably stay with the stock one myself if it went (as in, replace it with another stock mech.)

Re: Electric water pump worth the $$$

from the specs I remembered it outflowed only at idle.. didnt say specs for it otherwise.. was a mezzarie (sp?) pump for LT1..

that experience just made me shy away from them all together..

yea, i thought it flowed less at high rpms than a stock one but the other guy pointed out that his should or did flow more
yea, they definately can be finicky though, especially with the guy on the lt1 boards that was stuck when his relay went or something

They also said the car ran at 150* after the install and thats worth some HP right there.

If a good deal comes up I might pick one up.

They dyno tested it in the GMHTP this month and it put down about 2/2.

There is another advantage to having an Ele.WP. You can run it with the motor off for that quick cool down between passes.
