EGR Valve problem...

My car is throwing an EGR Valve code. Where do I begin to fix this problem? I really don't have much experience with repairing cars, but I want to start and this seems like a good starting point. I've heard that '01 and '02 cars have something they use instead of an EGR Valve, I think I could be interested in using that. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Could be several things - I'd post the specific DTC code it's throwing. The 01 and 02 cars don't come with EGR from the factory, there's nothing you can retrofit that I'm aware of.

True, he could remove the entire EGR system, seal his intake with a freeze plug, or buy an LS6 intake, but will still have an EGR code unless it's removed from the PCM.

New questions....I just searched through a lot of EGR related questioned asked before...

A main thing that comes up with the EGR is the "AIR"? What is it?

Also, people talk about worrying about emissions tests after they remove that EGR valve. Then they talk about how the tests consist of the testers just looking inside the hood, under the car, and checking computer. Do they actually see that the actual emissions from the car are?

Will I loose HP or gas milage or hurt my emissions with the removal of the EGR or AIR?

It's an acronym. I forget exactly what it stands for but what it does is injects air into the exhaust to reduce emissions.

EGR

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation

I think you actually get HP from removing the EGR cuz it cleans up the airflow into the intake
