EGR/AIR trouble codes...$$$!?

I called up the only shop in town with any tools to program an LS1 and the guy quoted me 400 bucks to erase two trouble codes! He said he needed to aquire the program for my specific vehicle or something like that. I was thinking about removing the EGR and AIR tubes but not if I have to fork over 400 bucks to get the codes removed. Those with the mod, how did you go about doing it?

Am I better off to just buy autotap or ls1 edit, somthing along these lines and do it myself?

Is there a cheaper way?

Thanks for all the help.

they are so full of ****...don't even waste your time calling them again...

it would take them 5 minutes to remove the codes...they are trying to rip you off...

do it yourself

not that those mods will make any difference hp wise...just visually

thanks for the post....

it seems that no one is really sure as to what the SES light will do. I have heard some people say that it wont effect a thing, just has an annoying light. I have heard others say that performance is slowly diminished because of the thrown code. Which one is it? If the only thing I get is a light on my dash, it wont bother me but if it will bring down my performance, I might reconsider.

The only problem with just ignoring the SES light is that you can throw other codes that could be harmful and not know it.
Keep looking around there's got to be sombody with a shop LS1edit license that will turn off a couple of codes for cheap. Maybe try some of our supporting vendors for a mail order solution.

Where in the midwest are you at, because there are two places close to me that can do all of the programming for less than $400.

Talk to Mark at Raging Motorsports. 913-814-7243. He also does dyno tuning there.

I think that some of them like maybe TSP or others will do mail order tuning. You send them your PCM and they make the changes and send it back.
