Easy upgrades
I am just getting back into the car scene, been doing Harleys for the last few years. I just purchased a 2000 Z28 that is stock except for some Flowmasters. I'd like to do a few performance upgrades without spening a bunch of $. (Feeling the crunch like everyone else.) Some one told me that there are some upgrades that can be done by twicking a few parts already on the car. Modifing the air intake, and things along those lines. they were on smoe web site or tech site. It's the wife's car,but I do drive it from time to time and would like to give it alittle more zip. I plan on putting in poly bushings shortly. Any help would be a big help.
Thanks,

MTI or SLP air lid is the best bang for the buck you can do (cheap). Put a K&N filter in along with it. Sub frame connectors are the next thing you need to do (suspension). Keep going with the suspension because it's cheap and you'll hook and like your car that much more. If it's a stick then later down the line put a Monster clutch in. If auto do a stall and you'll love it. Hope that helps man!
First thought would be to put a good catback on it. The Flowmaster exhaust for the F-body is restrictive.
As stated above an aftermarket air lid is good fpr a proven Hp gain.
When you're ready to spend a little money an LS6 intake swap and long tube headers will add 30+ hp. Add a tune to that for 15 more hp.

Well the clutch will be noticeable if you go with a stage 3 or better Monster. Maybe a 1-2 would be a better choice for your application. A LS6 clutch kit might be the better option for you IMO. A Magnaflow catback might be something to look at also. It's pretty quiet at idle and just normal driving but then when you cut it lose it sounds really good even with manifolds and cats. GL with the build!
I have never liked that and can't say I would advise it. If you do that along with an open element filter such as the K&N it will let way to much dust into your engine and you'll be cleaning your MAF all the time. I'm just using the stock box with a nice clear lid so I can see the filter and I did descreen the MAF so with my lid you can also keep an eye on the MAF (which I clean about every 10K miles). I just wouldn't do it for the minimal if no gain to be seen for it and have to worry about what's being sucked into your motor.

SLP lid(about $95), AMSoil cleanable dry airfilter ($40) EGR tube mod, port & polish the throttle body, Hooker cat-back exhaust($380), BBK SSI intake ($400) if you plan on keeping the EGR and it can handle up to a 85mm throttle body. An up-graded shifter like a Hurst, B&M, MGW, or Pro 5.0 ($170-$210). If you're going with a new clutch get an LS7 clutch/flywheel kit ($460).
