GAIN 400 HP, or get your car up to 400 HP ... there's a difference.

U mean to reach 400HP right? Anyways the easiest way to reach 400HP is from LM,LID(K&N),FLP(no cats),pulleys,TB,FTRA which will put u around 340RWHP*.85= 400HP(flywheel HP)

If you want to gain 400hp, god help you.

If you want 400 flywheel horsepower, the above advice is good. Except my '01 T/A dyno'd 338 rwhp/352 rwtq with just an FIPK, ported MAF ends, ported TB (Shaner), MAF-T (running a little rich), ASP crank pulley and a Hooker catback. Headers would put it in the 355-360 rwhp and 365-370 rwtq range I beleive.

If you want 400 rwhp, then the above recipe plus stage 1 ported heads and a good size cam will get you there easily and reliably.

I have seen several instances where people have gained close to 100hp (flywheel) from just a cam swap on these LS1s. Most cost effective way to gain power is through valve timing.

Cool

To GAIN 400 HP, it will take a stroker with a complete forged bottom-end and a lot of nitrous or boost. I've seen a few LS1 strokers dyno 700+ RWHP with a direct-port setup.

If you're wanting 400+ RWHP safely and reliably, then a nice heads/cam setup is the way to go. All of the bolt-ons, quality-ported LS1 heads, a nice camshaft, and good computer tuning will easily get you over 400 RWHP. Our last heads/cam car left with 420 RWHP. We have cam-only cars making 390-400 RWHP with our G5 cam. Many guys use these cars for their daily drivers, too.

Feel free to give me a call or e-mail me if you have more questions.

Hey Trevor,

How are those cams? Will you gain all that power at the expense of your low end? How's the idle?
