E-Brake light and ABS
E-Brake light and ABS
This is the second time this has happened. Last time was about 3 months ago. I was just driving along and my red BRAKE light comes on along with ABS inoperative light. The EBRAKE is not in use and the Abs was working. Each time I simply shut off the car and started it up again and the light went away. i dont think there is a problem but i was just wondering if anyone knows why this is occuring.

It is located under the console. When the circuit is shorted, the E brake light is on and ABS is inop - Factory design.
same thing happened to me
Funny, same thing here - I was going down a hill and had to hit my brakes kinda hard. The low trac light came on, then never shut off. Then the ABS Inop light came on, then the e-brake light. I pulled over, shut off the car, then started up again. This happend about two weeks ago, no problems since. What could cause this????
One thing I know about the ABS is that when it throws a trouble code, it will turn on the red brake light. They say this is because the car is not safe to drive without ABS. The rear brakes would lock up too easily without ABS so they turn the red light on to get your attention. Take it to the dealership and get them to scan the computer, that is the best way to tell if the ABS unit is acting up. Hopefully yours is under warranty because those ABS units can cost about $1000 new.
