Reducing backpressure will MOVE the torque peak but it WILL be the same.
Moving it up the rpm band some makes a persons seat of the pants dyno say that he LOST torque. Not true. I've seen many dyno sheets disproving the myth.
I don't know... I only gained 9lb.ft of torque from a lid and cutout, which I find to be a little bit disappointing. So maybe I lost some due to the lack of backpressure, maybe not, but I do think I should've been able to gain a bit more, but I didn't.

The cutout was open during all runs, so I don't have numbers to compare for it being open vs. open. I will do that the next time around, though.

It might be a good idea to ask in your regional forum for any board memebers to maybe help you install them. Most will do it for lunch and maybe some beer....

If you were close to me I'd do it for a small fee

why not do it yourself? It's a fun project, it will teach you quite a bit, and anyone with a set of sockets can do it for free, as opposed to paying someone to do it for $350+

Heh, I live on a mountain. Even my garage floor is slanted like a small ramp. I would love to do it myself if I had a place to do it. It just kind of scares the hell out of me to do it at my house.

Re: Dynoed My Z-28, Good #'s??

The shop is still waiting on get my y-pipe. HOPEFULLY theyll have it by tomorrow and I can pick my car up tomorrow evening.... then I should have some new #'s for yall. So far Ive got the Whisper lid, the fast toys ram airm, Flowtech Lt's & y-pipe, random tech. cats, and that "slowmaster" muffler. If I could get about 350 + rwhp i would be happy for now. What other bolt ons do you guys suggest I get? Im not looking to rip into the motor yet because the car only has 14,000 miles on it. An intake manifold will prolly be my next investment.... Will a new throttle body and MAF make any difference? Maybe underdrive pulleys, and ugh, well thats all i can think of. Any more ideas?

you won't pick up much power swapping your intake manifold. You've already got the ls-6 style intake. You won't need a new throttle body or MAF until you start making big power. a dyno tune or the UD pullies would probably be your best bet.

Thumbs up Re: Dynoed My Z-28, Good #'s??

Very nice numbers, for a stock vehicle you are right there.

I own a 01 Z28, 14K miles, with FRA mod, lid, catback, Y3000 2.0 STR torque converter,Transgo shift kit, and 3.73's. Here are my dynojet numbers for comparison:

295RWHP/348RWTQ (366RWTQ spike @ 1st to second shift), 308RWTQ @ 6K RPM
