Dyno - TR224

Just wanted to let everyone know that the tr224 is still putting up decent numbers. My 2k WS6 dynoed at 385/367. Mods are TR 224 112lsa, tsp lid, ls6 intake, kooks lt's, catted Y, magnaflow muffler welded into stock ws6 catback, spec III and some suspension stuff. I don't have a scanner, but graph takes off at 4k. AF was nearly a constant 13.1. Im hoping to get 400/??? if I ditch the cats and add a ported tb...

I didn't see it on your mod list, but cutout, pulley and ported TB should bring you to 400.

Re: Dyno - TR224

Yep - I plan on picking up a cutout, pulley and ported TB in the near future. If I can get over 400 w/only a 224 I'd be pretty happy. Right now my biggest concern is traction (or, lack thereof). 1st and 2nd gear are pretty useless if I lay into it pretty good. I think the next purchase will be some Nittos. I just hope my 10 bolt can handle 'em w/o exploding...

Re: Dyno - TR224

how harsh is the 224 on springs? I am trying to decide on a cam for a daily driven ls1 and don't want to have to change the springs every 5k miles.

I've heard of people going over 25k miles on that cam with 918s

Re: Dyno - TR224

The lift on the TR224 is only .563 - which is pretty mild in comparison to most other aftermarket cams. The profile on the Tr cams is between that of the Comp XE and XER (so, more harsh than a comp XE grind but not so harsh as a XER grind). I am running 918s now and plan to swap them out for dual springs around 20k (just to be safe). However, spring life is really dependent on how hard you drive the car...
