Dumb converter question

I have read that around town driving is up at like 2-3k depending on stall speed...but is that just when youre on the throttle, or all that time. Like when i let off the gas will my rpms drop down to like 1200 like they do now (stock)?

TIA

At low speeds the TC won't lock up so you will run at slightly higher rpms, depending on the rpecise convertor. The biggest affect is stop and go traffic. When idling, for my 3500, my rpms are at 600 but to really make the car go anywhere, I have to push the throttle up to 2200 rpm or so. The rpms stay high (2500 or so) under light throttle, but once I hit 40 mph or so (whatever lockup is for the stock transmission), the rpms drop back to stock (~1400).
