My car has been sitting for about 6 months now. I just went over and started it up and drove it. It is knocking but is driving and has power also and is not missing what so ever. Please tell me what you all think I have missed this car too much. I need it in the shop asap.

 

also the car does not knock when idleing.... it only knocks when revved up.

 

Pinging, ticking or knocking? What year? The pic doesn't help.. Taillights say 98~ish LS1.

Pinging could be spark knock.
Ticking could be normal valvetrain noise, or piston slap.
Knocking could be a bad valvetrain problem or a bottom end problem.

Kind of hard to diag over the net. Does it do it when cold or warmed up?

 

It is a 98. It idles and drives fine but when given gas it starts knocking and gets faster when accelerated.

 

just a thought, maybe u joints????? possibly were worn and froze up/dried up before/during the 6 months.... just a idea out of nowhere here, i know net diagnostics arent the best without being able to actually hear/feel it and check it out in person, but it does kinda sound like a driveline related issue.
