Driver window wont roll down

i have been having soem problem with my auto button on the driver window. for the past several months i have found that i had to pusht he button harder and harder for teh window to roll down and it was a 50/50 chance that the auto function would also work. well today was the day the bugger didnt roll down at all. is there something i can do? are the motors prown to burnout or do you think its the button in the door? i dont have warranty still.

WHAT SHOULD I DO

thanks in advance
garrett

From gathering info from various posts and from my own experience with the GM window motors, I think that the "auto down" feature has something to do with them going out. I'm on motor #2 at the moment, and if I "auto down" then sometimes I cannot put the window back up for a few seconds, but if I don't use the "auto down" then I have no problems.

If your window won't go down at all, then I'd suspect the window motor myself.

most likely the motor is out. Its very common in these cars. It is also know for the button to get worn but like i said it is probably the motor. Get it replaced and if doesn't want to roll up on demand, try not to keep rolling it down cuz once it goes out completely, your window is stuck and is a b@tch to get back up.

my driver's window wouldn't go up. so i pushed the lock/unlock button for the doors a few times and then the window moved.

don't know why, but it worked for me.

For your information, the auto window device does not activate with how far you push the button, but how long. If it works correctly, when you push the button the window will begin to go down. Hold the button and after maybe 3/4 a second you should hear a faint click, at that point, when you release the window button, the window will continue to go down.

If your window will still roll down but have to push the button really hard, it's the button's fault obviously. But these windows do suck and you may need a replacement.
