I don't know

The guy that built the tranny said that he would put in a larger sun shell, carbon bands, kevlar clutches, etc... 1400.00 Now I dont have 4th, well sometimes... and no overdrive. Got uar to run a pressure test. They took the pan off and found metal shavings....I might convert to a t56 if the price is right. The tranny builder denys that it was his workings... He blames UAR.. He says that UAR burned it up on the dyno... Little hard to believe because they use 1st and 2nd to get the rpms up, not 4th and overdrive. Ive seen to many beautiful and expensive cars come out of UAR for them to not know what they are talking about..Forged 360 vette came out of UAR..I think he didnt build the tranny up and did a stock rebuild on it, IMO. Some redneck F*ck that cant build ****. Im going into the Coast Guard soon anyhow, when I get out I may do the swap.

4th IS overdrive. Does 3rd and overdrive not work?

More than likely your 3-4 bands or the clutches inside are burned up. Those 4L60E trannies are just not made to handle high horsepower and rpms without being SERIOUSLY beefed up. New upgraded bands, kevlar clutches, a heavy duty sunshell, billet servo, etc, etc etc are needed to make them reliable.

I went through 3 4L60Es (2 decent rebuilds and a hardcore rebuild) in my 396 LT1 before I finally converted to a T-56. Smartest move I made. The high rpms, high power, and heavy convertible car put the 4L60E through hell and back.

t56 swap

Well. I might go with the t56. I started driving with a stick car in high school. I got tired of it and went with auto in the camaro.. I drive the truck 4 days a week and miss stick haha... If the price is right, ill convert to a stick. Only problem is that the trannys cost soooo much.

I had alote of tranny problems... Then I had it rebuilt by CPT. That was a year ago and probably 300 passes at the drag strip. In other words it kicks much tail.
