Does my camaro got a chip in it???
Does my camaro got a chip in it???
Here's the deal first off Im new to this board and would like to extend welcomes to everyone. Approx. 3 weeks ago I got my new addition to our family, a 1999 Z28 w/ 38,000 miles mint cond. Now the dealer told me that the previous owner had a chip installed in the car. The car is fast, but this is the first Z I have ever drove and don't have it anything to compare too so basically Im just curious if the salesman was blowing smoke up my a** What I am wanting to know if there is any way to tell if the ecu has really been chipped. Some friends told me that if I drop my a4 in first and if doesnt shift on its own ( ya know bouncing off the rev limiter) that means the car has been chipped. Now I havent tried this cuz it sounds a little like bs. There is a dyno around here somewhere (columbus, OH) but I really dont know what a stock Z would put to the wheels. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance---> James
Re: Does my camaro got a chip in it???
Sounds like B.S. I don't know why someone would reprogram the ECU if they didn't have any other mods (at least that's what it sounds like). Stock A4 should put down around 280-290rwhp.
The staying in first thing without it shifting works in my car and I know for sure the computer hasn't been programmed.
