Actually Dexcool is not this evil stuff eveyone describes it as, and works PERFECTLY well in our cars... Your car definitely has it. I have used Dexcool in all my performance vehicles (even non-LS1) and it perfroms better and lasts longer than regiular antifreeze.

The inherent problem they ARE suing about is that people arent COMPLETELY flushing every last bit of regular antifreeze out of their system when they convert over. When Dexcool mixes with it it gels up and clogs stuff. then your motor can get tanked...

Actually you can mix the green coolant and Dexcool. It says so right on their website. It just voids the supposed 150k mile life. Besides, they're both ethelyneglycol based. Dexcool just has extra corrosion inhibitors and lubes for the water pump.

The lawsuit is partially because of the 150k lifespan they put on it. It just flat out doesn't last that long. @ 80k miles in my wife's Grand Am GT, it was looking pretty muddy. So I changed it. The people that are suing are the idiots that don't check anything on their engine, don't service anything until a light comes on reminding them. People are also suing based on the 3100 and 3400 lower intake manifold gasket failure. They blame this on dexcool, but they overlook that GM has redesigned this gasket several time. To me, this boils down to poor gasket design. Not to mention the 3100 engine has this same problem and didn't run Dexcool, but Dexcool is new so it must be the culprit, right? Don't believe all the propaganda you hear. Do your own research and generate your own opinions on stuff.

Oil.... a lot of people run Mobile 1. What came in it was not synth. run 5w30 in what ever brand you want. I have 120k miles on the wife's GA running regular Valvoline and its still strong.

The oil light.... Don't change only when the light comes on. Keep track of your milage. The engine does NOT have a special sensor that can tell when the oil is dirty. Its based on a logarithm that uses various driving conditions like RPM etc to calculate when it might need changing. It does not take in consideration anything like dusty environments or racing.

Oil filter.... Just not Fram (less surface area). It will filter, but there are much better out there w/out breaking the bank. There is a taller size than what comes on it, but I can't remember it. Hopefully someone else will chime in, or try a search.

I use Mobil-1 Oil filters because no places around here stock the correct AC Filter.

Every time Ive heard of Dexcool and Green stuff mixing, while it works, I hear thats the cause of all the problems...

I've mixed them w/no negative results.

Check their website if you don't believe me.

I use the filter listed for 6.0L 3/4 ton pickups. It is the diameter and has the right tread, but it is about .75in longer. When installed it is perfectly even with the bottom of the oil pan.
