Do the stock tires suck that bad??

My Goodyear F1's seem pretty good, I have 22,500 on them. I think they hook up good. Its about time to get new ones. I'm getting these

LOL. Best was a 1.687 with the average in the 1.70-1.71 range. They only lasted for about 28K miles though.
Its all in the converter. Now that I have a stick I doubt I can duplicate it. With another auto I think I could.Jess
