Do the stock tires suck that bad??

I've had my 02 Z28 for about a month now and it still has the stock Goodyear Eagle GS-C tires on it with 10,000 miles.

I've notice that when i try to launch evenly softly in 1st gear, launch easy then at about 3k floor it, they still break and spin all the way through 2nd gear. Do the stock tires really suck this bad??? or is it just operator error???

Thanks.

I shaved about 2 seconds off my autocross standings switching from my Goodyears, to my Bridgestones. The OEM tires are by far the most limiting factor in the braking and handling ability of our cars. Even the Goodyear F1's on the SS/WS6 cars are junk.

I have never run a goodyear tire on any car or truck I have owned and liked it. Right now the Cherokee rides on Wrangler GSA's... Im guessing GSA stands for Gets Stuck Anywhere

Favorites on the board seem to be the Bridgestone RE750 and the Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP. If you need a 4 season, the fav seems to be the BFG KDW/S.

Should have gotten the stock Goodyear RSAs. I pulled 1.6 60' on mine.

I liked the stock GSC's just fine
The only thing I saw wrong with them is the lack of traction in the rain. I got new rims with the Nitto 555's and they are over the GSC's, so i'd recommend getting something else. I dunno, everybody has their own opinion.. but i'd say the GSC's werent that bad.

I wonder which one is better (for traction) GS-Cs or RS-As? I know the RS-As are pretty bad, IMO...but the GS-Cs are directional (RS-As are not) so I would think that they'd be at least a little better.

As bad as the RS-As are though, I won't complain one bit about their tread life. I've got 27k miles on them so far (not exactly "easy" miles either) and they look like they've got at least another 5k miles left.

If they weren't so expensive, I'd probably buy them again...just for street use.

RSA's are NOT good for traction. Best 60' time I managed (with 2.73's or 3.73's) was a 2.0.

Their tread wear was pretty good though...........they've got about ~30k on them, and like 96SFLZ said, they've still got some life left in them.

The RSA's lose all life if you autocross them. I dumped mine with about 4/32 left on em... at 11k miles. The Bridgestones I have have about 5/32 on em, with 16k on em, and are a far superior tire to begin with. Just dront drive in the snow

I had the GS-C's for 28K+ miles. They were almost slick when I was done with them.

I never did burnouts and was getting 2.0 short times at the track. I would have to say they were OK.. not great.

I never had any a terrible traction issues tho.

That is insane. I got 52,000 miles out of my original GSC's!! they had a little tread left, but slipped a lot at the end.

I have 21,400 miles on my GSCs (which came with the car) and I will never buy another set of these.. I am probably going to be picking up 4 KDW or Pilots (have not decided yet) after The holidays are over...
