Do LS1's Have Forged Internals?
The pistons are Hypereutectic (high silicon cast), the rods are powdered metal and the crank is cast. If it were forged I would shift at 7K instead of 6500. The crank seems very tough, but the pistons and rods can fail when pushed too hard.
LS1s weren't built to handle boost very well from the factory. You could probably get away with 6 pounds of non intercooled boost, or 8-10 pounds of intercooled boost for a while. Eventually you will probably pull a ringland apart.
the only thing half way decent inside the ls1 is the crank
its not forged but its a pretty strong cast steel crank! The rods on the other hand arent great (im running arp rod bolts to help them hold together an extra 100 or so rpm. And well factory hytperjunk pistons are fine on motor, but suck with a power adder!
