Re: Disapointed With Track Times

On Fri. nights up at Epping is they're street night and they don't prep track at all. For best times its best to go on a Sat. test and tune. They prep the track and you can run from 9am to 5 pm instead of just 4 hours of racing on Fri.night.Unfortunatly, because the begining of the season was washed out and they're now at a busy part of the schedule and there is'nt a Sat. test and tune for over a month

that's why i usually go on wednesday. normally a lot less drivers and spectators. you can easily can get in a few more runs. plus. at nighttime, the teperature is normally lower than during the day - which might affect your time.

I did'nt think they prep the track on Wed. either. I think its another street night. But it is true about the temps at night being better. When I go on Saturdays I normally run my best times in the mornings on my first couple of passes.
By the way. Are you guys going up for the camaro/firebird challenge on July 16? I'll most likely be going up. I probally wont bring my T/A (next year when I have more mods). I'm running my saleen july 9 in quick street and if nothing breaks I want to bring it up on the 16th for test and tune.So hopefully I'll see you guys up there

I got a bone stock 2002 SS 6 speed also...
My best time at Capital in Crofton, Md. ( Feb. time frame ~50 degrees ) and 1/8
or less tank of petrol was 60ft 1.91 sec and 1/4 mile was 12.91 at 106...

Try to get to second as fast as posible.
Good luck with your runs!
Jim

Re: Disapointed With Track Times

Its just one of those things,

We had a 01 Z28 that ran low 8.20's a few times with a catback, airlid, and tune. That car was ran over by a 18-wheeler so we got a 00. That car has been a best at 8.80. Granted it doesn't have the LS6 manifold but still the car is 6 tenths and 6mph slower with the exact same parts on it!! (we where able to pull our parts off the other car).

The cars are both equipped exactly the same, same rear, tranny, seats, windows, locks, etc.. The only difference is the 00 has ground effects.

Re: Disapointed With Track Times

interesting.

88saleen,

I know they don't prep the track on wednesday's either. It's never really been a big deal for me because I've always run my v6 camaro there. I just got a 2000 SS M6 that's bone stock. So once I get used to it and get some new rims to run junk tires on, I'll end up running with you guys. I doubt I'll be ready by july 16th but count on me spectating!

Re: Disapointed With Track Times

I think with a little practice, those times will come down... drop those 60's around 2.0 or so, and you'll see a dramatic improvement just the way your car sits now. Practice your launch, then give it another go and see what happens.
