I recently was cruzin and a civic pulled next to me a about 20mph, and toyed toyed toyed until I dropped the hammer, the car downshifted, and when it shifted up I heard what sounded like detonation pinging. I drove around and made a few more passes and heard it again and again, then I was afraid to drop it again. I'm really don't think it was detonation because of the knock sensor, but that is what it sounded like. Anyone else had this problem?

I know mine pings on snap acceleration but nothing really shows up on a scanner. Mabye you just had some bad gas.

Try running Atap on it, to make sure, I had the same prob. in the summer, bought a MAFT and now its gone.
