damn.
so does that mean that my brother could put in an ls1 in his car he is building and just put that on instead of the normal intake, and not have to do any of the wire harness bs to make it all work?

you gunna do an ls1 swap now

easier to drop into an older car and not have to worry about so many wires and stuff. that and i am pretty sure a lot of drag cars use carbs so i am assuming they can make more hp. i dunno about the 2nd one, but i knoo the first one is a for sure.

Yeah, I was surprised when I first found out that race cars still use carbed engines.

ya carbed cars make more power with less money... BUT FI cars are more reliable and not as radical as carbcars

I hate to rain on your guys parade BUT,
the LS1 is a distributorless engine. You would
need the computor to manage the ignition system.

Unless ofcoarse you get an aftermarket ignition
system.

Sorry guys but, IMHO FI still has more potential
and reliability. I like getting 20mpg with a 13 second
convertible, though I wouldn't mind the simplicity of
a carb.

ZDRIVEN, this is from edelbrocks website, they talk about what you were talking about in your post.

"Performer RPM LS1 Carbureted Manifold
This powerful new manifold is designed for the popular Chevrolet LS1 (5.7L) small-block V8 originally used in 1996 and later Corvettes and 1997-02 Camaros and Firebirds. It also fits the Corvette ZO6 engine and any other Gen III engines including the LM7 (5.3L), LR4 (4.8L), and LQ4 (6.0L). The Performer RPM LS1 manifold allows the use of a carburetor on these originally computer-controlled engines, offering maximum power and a broad torque curve, providing optimum performance from 1500 to 6500 rpm. This manifold includes a unique electronic Timing Control Module made by MSD® which works with OE sensors to fire the “distributorless” ignition system and offers a choice of three timing curves. We have also included a special throttle and trans bracket that works with 700R-4 and Turbo 350 transmissions making the LS1 engine an easy retro-fit into any muscle car, street rod or marine application.

Performer RPM LS1 Manifold and Timing Control Module for GM Gen III engines..... #7118 "

OMFG!!!

That is SOOOO badass! I haven't always been a huge fan of Edelbrock. But that sounds like a sweet package there.

How much for the intake with all of the electronics again?
