cutout or not?

Here is my situation. I still have another car that I am in the process of selling and so I am trying to wait to sell the car before I mod my ss. I have the slp dual dual exhaust and it sounds good, but I need more. I plan on buying a cat-back soon, but do you think its okay to buy a cutout to hold me over. Qtec good? Where to install it? Thank you for your time.

get the cutout. you will love it. You may even decide not to spend a whole bunch on a catback after you hear the cutout.

As far as the electric goes, both QTEC and McCord are good. I have the QTEC and I love it.

I was in a similar boat. Im going to school and working part time so i only got a little cash to spend on mods. I have the SLP Factory option for performance exhaust and its nice, but i decided to get a qtec when i saw it for sale on a message board for 100 bucks for the whole install package. I got it and put it in today. Sounds mean and loud open. Then you close it up and its nice and quiet, Its alota fun to play with. Maybe its just me (i dont have a good seat of my pants feel for speed) but i didnt notice a power jump with it open... wutever.

My car definetly has a noticeable SOTP difference with the cutout. Im sure alot has to do with noise, but still I feel like I lost so much power through the muffler.

Egh, go for it. It rattles the sh*t out of your interior but it does sound pretty cool.

I can feel a difference on the freeway with it open. If I have it closed, it feels more.........choked up.

Cutouts are pretty good they sound awesome and if you get an electric one you can adjust the sound according to your preference. Another option would be to get SLP loudmouth, sounds about the same as the cutout and I know this for sure because I have had both.

I got the McCord electric cutout and installed it under the rear passenger seat.

On the dyno, it netted me a 13 RWHP gain over the crappy Flowmaster muffler. I love the sound and leave it open all the time, except for on a long highway trip.

With my 4.11 gears, 80 MPH is about 2100 RPM, which is right where the cutout is resonating into the cabin. So, I just flip the switch and close it up .... when I get to my destination I just open it up again.

You will enjoy an electric cut-out. I had a Qtec and had lots of problems with it. I bought a Mccord (which was less expensive) and I like it a lot better. It seems to seal better when closed and nothing has fallen off of it.
