CUTout with muffler ?

If I installed a cutout with an electrical switch, do I really need an aftermarket exhaust system ? I was planning about putting the cutout switch after my cat. What would be the recommended place to install the cutout and why.
Thanks

if you are getting a cutout, than no there is no reason for the CB. unless you like the sound of a cat back when the cutout is closed. i have mine right before the bend in the pipe that goes over the axle. kind of in the middle of the car if that makes sense. it was put there because of clearance. there is a nice indention in the middle of the car. take it to an exhaust shop and they should find the right place for you. it really doesnt matter where you put it after the cat, because all you are doing is bypassing the muffler. nice for a 30 dollar mod.

sorry about the newbie question but are they any differences between a muffler, exhaust, and/or catback ?
Can you put the cutout after the exhaust manifold so it would bypass the cat AND the muffler ? That should equal more HP, right ?
thanks

the cats are like RIGHT AFTER the manifold so that option is out. there is a spot at the back right before the axel that looks like GM intended something to go there

Muffler is the big cylinder type of thing hanging underneath your car in the back.

Exhaust is simply the whole system from the headers (attached to the engine) all the way back to the exhauset tips.

Catback is the exhaust system from the cats back.

Did that answer your question...?

You can also put the cutouts before the cats, but then you need, of course two of them, and capping/uncapping them will probably be a pain in the ***.

Unless you get electric plates for them.

Not to mention the noise...

Later!
