Cutout?

Well i just installed my cutout today and I LOVE IT!!! It sounds awesome. Now i do not know what to do? I was going to buy a hooker or a magnaflow catback but the guy at the muffler shop looked at my exhaust and told me it isnt worth it. I already have 2.75" pipe and its mandrel bent. He said all i need to do is change the muffler. What should i do? I was also wondering will the cutout out perform any catback? On the dyno? I would figure it would it being open exhaust. Thanks

Well, my cutout gave me 13 RWHP. I think that's as good or better than most cat-backs. I'm going to leave the exhaust alone until I decide to do a heads/cam/headers package.

There are some really good flowing exhausts out there and some bad flowing exhausts. We tested Trevor's 02SS when it had just bolt-ons and an SLP dual-dual. The car picked up nothing with an open cutout. We tested it several times, so the system flows really well. We tested my Dynomax on my 94 Z and it doesn't flow so well. I uncapped the cutout and picked up 8RWHP.

Headers a high flow catalytic converter and a free flowing exhaust are key for the true gains. If you dont have the cash for that a cut put will gain some hp over a stock exhaust. You should be able to pick up at least that with a good flowing cat back like Borla adjustable system or a loud mouth though.

Thanks for all the replies. But my question is should i still spend the money on a catback since i got a cutout or should i just leave the cutout and get a muffler? Thanks again.

I also bought a cutout. I would just leave the stock exhaust behind the cutout. you wont get any more hp from a cat back if you keep your cutout open. spend the money on a lid or something that will give you a hp gain.... also you have to like the sleeper look of the stock tailpipes on a quick car
