Cut-Out Opinions

I have a borla cat-back on my ws6..and i love the sound. I wanna do headers and all..but moneys kinda tight as of now. Is the sound with stock manifolds and all even worth the cut-out? Whats the best one to get for the borla? And whats the best way to run everything for the switch? Thanks.

My personal experience says:

If you don't have cats, get ready for lots of annoying rasp, esp. if you are cammed. Mine sounds AWESOME at WOT, but under ~2700 rpms I almost hate how it sounds with the cutout open

If you are wondering, my exhaust setup:

MAC Headers, ORY, !cats, cutout, Hooker Aero Chamber

Also has a hotcam to make things lopey

I have:

Borla Catback + Long Tubes+ 3 inch Ypipe w/ dual random cats + 383 with cc305 cam + DMH Electric Cutout made for the Borla.

I love the way it sounds. You can click on my sig for the sound and Video clips between open and closed.

So far, I have no raspyness at all when driving around town.

Thx,
Claude

I have pretty much stock exhaust except for the cut-out and flowmaster muffler. I think it sounds awesome. It rattles the inside of the car a lil more during the winter but since you can cap it up, it works for me. I love it. Nothing like pulling up next to some jabroni and revving it up w/ the cut-out open.

Ok.. unless you are getting an electric cutout for your borla you are already running a cutout with your least restrictive plate on.

So it doesnt make sense to make another opening when you already have one..

I have the same setup, well.......until Feb when i get my LT true duals, xpipe, and dual cutouts before the mufflers.

I have the QTEC electric cutout on the stock system, and it sounds great!

Yes, electric cutouts are made especially for the Borla cat-back. McCord has one and not sure if QTEC has one though.
